S. DEERFIELD: Student sports lovers in Western Massachusetts:
here's a
chance to publish your writing.
Sport-spot.com, a new website featuring Western Massachusetts
student
sports, is looking for writers to cover their favorite teams
and sports. The site lets students explore journalism careers,
get their work published, and work with more experienced journalists
to become better sportswriters.
No experience is necessary, but knowledge of any sport is welcome.
The site will cover as many local middle school, high school,
and college teams as possible, and also non-school sports where
students participate.
Participating writers not only learn their craft, they may also
get free
admission to games and discounts on merchandise. There is no
cost to the
students to participate.

Back to School with a new way to learn the craft of writing!
Sports-Journalism Internships Available for Middle, High
and College
Students at New Western Massachusetts Sports Website - Set to
Launch 9/9/99
S. DEERFIELD: Student sports lovers in Western Massachusetts:
here's a chance to publish your writing and photographs.
Sport-spot.com, a new website featuring Western Massachusetts
student sports, is looking for writers and photographers to cover
their favorite teams and sports. The site lets students explore
journalism careers, get their work published, and work with more
experienced journalists to become better sportswriters and sports
photographers. Our writers and photographers, "Sport-SPOTters,"
will not only learn their craft, but also earn special assignments
to report on major local events, get press passes, and receive
discounts on Sport-Spot merchandise. There is no cost to the
students to participate.
We also invite local experts to feature their work in the related
fields such as nutrition, college recruiting, academics, injury
prevention, and sport psychology.
Sport-Spot is due to be launched this week with the goal of capturing
the active teenage audience as well as coaches, parents, fans,
and school personnel in the four Western MA counties.
The site is currently a comprehensive directory, linking to many
local and national sport resources. Bringing together the best
of our four county region, we will grow to be the one "SPOT"
resource for western MA sports!
The site will cover as many local middle school, high school,
and college teams as possible. We will also cover non-school
sports, summer leagues and elite teams where students participate.
We will happily link to and partner with all newspapers, towns
and recreation departments.
Gabrielle Richard-Harrington, founder and publisher, is a South
Deerfield resident with a long career in this region in physical
education, athletics, coaching, and officiating.
